Regional Occupational Health Physician

NES GLOBAL PTE. LTD.

Provide regional clinical leadership and assurance for occupational health services across downstream markets. The role translates business and workforce risks into evidence-based medical standards; governs health surveillance, Fitness for Duty and clinical services; provides escalation for complex cases; and ensures vendors and wellbeing programs deliver safe, compliant and measurable outcomes.

1. Clinical governance and occupational health risk

  • Establish and maintain regional medical standards, protocols, decision pathways and quality controls, allowing for country specific legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Advise leaders, HSE, Human Resources and Industrial Hygiene on occupational health risks arising from work, exposures, organisational change, infectious disease, travel and emerging health threats.
  • Ensure clinical activity is undertaken by appropriately licensed practitioners and within local scope-of-practice, consent, confidentiality and data-protection requirements.
  • Lead clinical audit, incident review, corrective-action follow-up and continuous improvement across internal and contracted services.

2. Health surveillance

  • Own the regional, risk-based health surveillance framework, linking exposure profiles and legal requirements to appropriate medical protocols and periodicity.
  • Approve country surveillance matrices and provider instructions; interpret significant individual findings and aggregated trends; and recommend exposure controls with HSE and Industrial Hygiene.
  • Set referral, repeat-test, work-restriction, record-retention and program-exit criteria, with documented escalation for abnormal or overdue outcomes.

3. Fitness for Duty and case management

  • Conduct or oversee pre-placement, periodic, return-to-work, job-transfer, post-incident, travel and safety-critical Fitness for Duty assessments as required.
  • Serve as regional medical escalation for complex cases, balancing employee health, job demands, operational risk, reasonable adjustments and applicable law.
  • Provide managers and Human Resources with clear functional capability, restriction and review guidance without unnecessary disclosure of diagnosis or confidential medical information.
  • Support complex absence, disability, rehabilitation and return-to-work cases in partnership with employees, treating clinicians and relevant stakeholders.

4. Clinical services and emergency medical preparedness

  • Set the clinical scope, protocols, referral pathways, formulary principles and quality requirements for onsite and contracted occupational health services.
  • Assure clinic readiness, medical equipment, first-aid arrangements, emergency response plans, local hospital pathways and medical components of drills.
  • Provide or coordinate time-sensitive medical advice during occupational incidents, outbreaks, business disruption and other health emergencies within agreed escalation arrangements.

5. Contract and provider management

  • Define clinical scopes of work and service specifications; contribute to sourcing, technical evaluation, mobilisation and renewal of occupational health, surveillance, EAP and wellbeing contracts.
  • Lead clinical governance reviews of providers, including credentialing, service quality, case escalation, audit findings, adverse events and remediation.
  • Monitor service levels, risk, cost and value with Procurement and the regional nurse; address persistent underperformance and recommend corrective or contractual action.

6. Wellness, RSIP, EAP and corporate wellbeing

  • Provide medical oversight for regional wellness, RSIP, EAP, mental health, fatigue, ergonomics and other corporate wellbeing initiatives.
  • Ensure programs are evidence-informed, inclusive, culturally appropriate and connected to clear care, crisis and referral pathways.
  • Use participation, outcomes and workforce health data to focus resources on material risks and evaluate program value, while protecting individual confidentiality.

7. Leadership, communication and reporting

  • Provide functional direction, coaching and case support to the regional nurse, country focal points and contracted clinicians.
  • Build trusted relationships with country and regional leaders and represent Health & Medical in relevant operational, HSE and crisis-management forums.
  • Translate medical evidence into practical guidance, leader briefings and employee communications in partnership with Communications and local stakeholders.
  • Maintain dashboards and report material risks, trends, regulatory gaps, vendor performance, program outcomes and improvement priorities to leadership.

Qualifications and experience

  • Medical degree from a recognised institution and current, unrestricted medical registration in at least one relevant jurisdiction.
  • Registration with the Singapore Medical Council, or eligibility to obtain it, where direct clinical practice in Singapore forms part of the role. All cross-border practice must remain within applicable local licensing rules.
  • Postgraduate qualification in occupational medicine or occupational health strongly preferred; a relevant qualification in public health, family medicine, emergency medicine or a related discipline is advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant post-registration experience; a profile of approximately 5–10 years is expected to suit the role. This should include meaningful experience in occupational, corporate or industrial health.
  • Experience supporting multiple sites or countries and managing safety-critical Fitness for Duty, exposure-based surveillance and complex return-to-work cases.
  • Experience in oil and gas, downstream, chemicals, manufacturing, logistics or another high-hazard industry is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated capability in provider governance, contract specifications, clinical audit, performance metrics and stakeholder influence.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification; advanced emergency or trauma training is advantageous where relevant to the operating environment.
  • Fluent professional English. Additional language capability relevant to the region is advantageous.
