Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineers to join the Software Engineering team. The Software Engineering team builds distributed components that run Univers’ AI platform. Our code serves requests from millions of IoT devices, and it does so with second latency and in a fault-tolerant manner. We are looking for candidates who share a passion for tackling complexity and building platforms at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate complex features and systems in detail
• Understand industry & company-wide trends to help assess & develop new technologies
• Suggest, collect and synthesize requirements and create an effective feature roadmap
• Design, develop, test and ship high-quality technical solutions that scale across multiple platform services and become intimately familiar with the systems you build and take pride in writing maintainable code.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, pairing opportunities, and code reviews to encourage the growth of others; support teams in producing extensible and maintainable code, ensuring integration with downstream dependencies and adherence to quality standards.
• Own and advocate for the health and quality of the systems that the team builds, including participating in on-call for first responder rotations and live incidents.
• Design and implement APIs to facilitate seamless integration between software components.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and partner with stakeholders and lead discussions for technical solutions, including design and cost considerations.
• Work with team in developing comprehensive testing strategies, defining success metrics, and incorporating customer feedback to drive continuous improvement.
• Champion security by designing and implementing isolation mechanisms for untrusted code execution, ensuring compliance with enterprise security requirements, and partnering with Security teams to protect against vulnerabilities in our services.
• Champion operational excellence by improving system reliability, reducing incident response times, and establishing best practices for monitoring, alerting, and runbooks across Actions services.
• Drive and support technical roadmap that aligns with product goals, ensuring that engineering efforts are strategically prioritized and incorporating the adoption of new technologies and methodologies where applicable.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to Go, Java, JavaScript, or Python, as well as framework like (Spring framework, React, Node.js, …)
• Experience with operating system internals, file systems, programming language design, or compilers

Preferred

• Designs software solutions and analyzes and helps identify requirements to achieve business and operational goals independently.
• Adheres to and suggests improvements to all phases of the software development lifecycle.
• Utilizes working knowledge to develop new software features and enhancements following design specifications and develops documents to clarify software design and code.
• Experience building and operating large-scale services, backend or full-stack, including on call.
• Experience building CI/CD or orchestration systems at scale
• Leads code reviews in designated areas to help drive improvements.
• Conducts debugging and troubleshooting to identify and fix moderately complex software issues and develops fixes for identified issues.
• Implements software testing (e.g., functional and non-functional testing), quality assurance processes, software error logging, monitoring, and observability for effective debugging, ensuring review by manager and/or lead throughout the process.
• Exercises judgment and discretion to conduct performance profiling and optimization of coding.
• Implements moderately complex API versioning, lifecycle, and interoperability strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
• IoT Protocols: Domain expertise in industrial and IoT communication protocols (Modbus, OPC-UA, BACnet, CAN, MQTT, CoAP, WebSockets, HTTP/REST).
