Senior Staff Nurse

· Obtain and record health and medical history, perform physical examination on patient prior to surgery.

• Perform preoperative evaluation.

• Provide direct patient care before, during, and after procedures requiring surgery.

• Make professional decisions for surgical care based upon a comprehensive health assessment.

• Maintain professional standards of health care before, during, and after a surgery.

• Prepare and evaluate the safety of operating equipment, supplies and drugs used intra-operatively.

• Assist surgeons intra-operatively when scrubbed up.

• Assist in circulating for surgeries when not scrubbed up.

• Ensure correct patient, correct site, correct surgery, and correct swab count in all surgeries.

• Ensure correct documentation is done.

• Assist in cleaning, packing and sterilization of instruments accordingly to the TSSU standard.

• Ensuring consent for surgical procedure is signed.

• Maintaining the cleanliness of the OT.

• Ensure that billing of consumables used during intra-operatively are all correct.

• To support in any other task as instructed by the Nurse Manager or Medical Director
