Accounts Officer, General Accounting

We are looking for an Accounts Officer to support the Finance team across general ledger accounting, accounts payable, account reconciliations, month-end closing, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate and complete accounting records, preparing journal entries, accruals and prepayments, performing balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting the timely preparation of monthly financial reports.

Key Accountabilities

• Perform day-to-day general ledger accounting and ensure transactions are accurately and appropriately recorded.
• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, reclassifications, and other month-end adjustments.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve reconciling items on a timely basis.
• Support the monthly closing by completing accounting activities on time and helping prepare monthly financial reports, supporting schedules, and variance analysis.
• Review general ledger accounts to identify unusual, incorrect, or outstanding transactions and follow up on necessary corrections.
• Process and verify supplier invoices and accounts payable transactions accurately and on time.
• Prepare and process supplier payments, ensuring appropriate supporting documentation and approvals are in place.
• Reconcile supplier accounts and follow up on outstanding invoices, credit notes, payments, and discrepancies.
• Liaise closely with Shared Services, internal and external stakeholders to resolve accounting, invoice, payment, reconciliation, and month-end matters.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, approval requirements, and financial controls.
• Maintain proper accounting records and supporting documentation for audit and statutory requirements.
• Support internal and external audit requests.
• Any ad-hoc duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree or Diploma, ACCA or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of experience in accounting & finance.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, accounts payable controls, and month-end closing processes.
• Advanced knowledge on MS Excel.
• Experience with Oracle or another ERP or cloud accounting system would be an advantage.
• Able to work independently and manage payment deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and document-control discipline.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
• Able to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment.
• Teamwork and willingness to support broader Finance activities.
