Job Description – Technical Advisor

Job Purpose

Provide technical expertise and advisory support to customers, service teams and internal stakeholders on marine engine systems and related equipment. The role focuses on troubleshooting, technical problem-solving, service support and ensuring the reliable operation and performance of marine engines.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide technical advisory and troubleshooting support for marine engines, propulsion systems and associated equipment, addressing technical issues and operational challenges.

2. Support customers, shipowners, ship managers and vessel operators on engine performance, maintenance, repair and overhaul matters.

3. Conduct technical investigations, root cause analysis and failure assessments, recommending appropriate corrective and preventive actions.

4. Review technical reports, service documentation, inspection findings and engine performance data to identify areas for improvement.

5. Work closely with field service engineers, service managers and technical specialists to resolve complex technical issues and provide effective solutions.

6. Provide technical guidance during engine overhauls, retrofits, upgrades, commissioning and other service-related activities.

7. Liaise with customers, shipyards, OEMs and internal stakeholders to coordinate technical matters and ensure timely resolution of customer requirements.

8. Prepare technical recommendations, reports and presentations, while keeping abreast of developments in marine engine technology, industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

• Experience in marine engine operations, maintenance, troubleshooting or technical support.

• Strong knowledge of marine diesel engines, propulsion systems and associated machinery.

• Experience as a Chief Engineer, Technical Superintendent, Service Engineer or Technical Advisor would be advantageous.

• Previous exposure to engine manufacturers, marine service providers or ship management companies is preferred.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

• Willingness to travel when required to support customers and service operations.
