Robotics Application Engineer
GARGANTUA ROBOT PTE. LTD.
Role overview
We are seeking a Robotics Application Engineer (AE) to support the deployment, integration, and real-world application of mobile robot platforms, LiDAR sensors, and SLAM-based navigation solutions. Working closely with international customers, partners, and internal product and R&D teams, you will help bring robotics solutions from technical evaluation and proof of concept (PoC) through on-site commissioning and successful delivery.
The ideal candidate combines hands-on robotics experience, practical programming skills, strong troubleshooting ability, and clear technical communication in English. This is an application-oriented role focused on implementation and customer success rather than pure algorithm research.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support for mobile robot bases, LiDAR products, and SLAM navigation solutions to overseas customers and system integrators.
· Perform on-site mapping, localization and navigation configuration, path-planning validation, parameter tuning, and troubleshooting of navigation or localization issues.
· Support customer integration of robot SDKs/APIs and SLAM systems; deliver interface adaptations, lightweight feature customization, and secondary development as needed.
· Partner with sales and product teams on technical consultations, product demonstrations, PoC testing, solution validation, and project delivery.
· Assist customers with integration of robots, sensors, peripheral devices, and higher-level software systems; diagnose communication, interface, and runtime issues.
· Prepare clear English-language deployment guides, technical documentation, training materials, application notes, and issue investigation reports.
· Act as a technical bridge between international customers and internal R&D/product teams; reproduce issues, provide actionable feedback, and drive resolution through closure.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree or higher in Robotics, Automation, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
· Hands-on experience in robotics applications, technical support, systems integration, or deployment, ideally with mobile robots or intelligent devices.
· Proficiency in Linux/Ubuntu environments and practical experience with ROS and/or ROS 2 development, debugging, or systems integration.
· Working knowledge of SLAM, localization, navigation, path planning, and common robotics sensors such as LiDAR, IMUs, and wheel odometry.
· Ability to program in C/C++and/or Python for API integration, debugging, log analysis, and basic feature customization.
· Familiarity with common communication interfaces and protocols, including TCP/IP, serial, CAN, and MQTT.
· Fluent in both Mandarin and English (written and spoken) to communicate with internal stakeholders from HQ in China and international customers.
· Ability to work independently, troubleshoot systematically, collaborate across cultures, and travel to customer sites when required.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience delivering mobile robot, AGV/AMR, or service robot projects in customer environments.
· Experience with LiDAR SLAM,visual SLAM, multi-sensor fusion, or navigation algorithm tuning.
· Familiarity with Nav2, SLAM Toolbox, Cartographer, AMCL, or comparable open-source robotics frameworks.
· Experience with robot SDK/API development, third-party system integration, motion control, sensor calibration, or coordinate transformations.
· Previous experience supporting international customers or collaborating with distributed engineering teams; proficiency in an additional language is a plus.
