Job position: NFS Food Laboratory Assistant

Salary: SGD 2,100–2,500 per month

Contract Period: 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2028. Service runs from 1 January to 30 September in each year.

Option period: 1 January to 31 December 2029. Service runs from 1 January to 30 September 2029.

Working hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am to 4:00pm. Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm. Lunch timing varies with the timetable and is agreed at the start of each term or when the timetable changes. Weekends and gazetted public holidays are off.

Experience as a Nutrition and Food Science Food Laboratory Assistant in a secondary school.

WSQ Food Safety Course Level 1 and GCE N-Level or equivalent.

Preferred: clear communication, safe food handling and storage, care of utensils and kitchen equipment, and safe use of cleaning equipment and agents.

Preferred: ability to follow instructions, assist with basic food preparation and use Microsoft Word, Excel and email.

1. Clean and sanitise food laboratories, workrooms, cookers, ovens and other work areas. Manage linen and waste, and replenish cleaning supplies.

2. Receive deliveries, organise ingredients using first-in, first-out storage and check that utensils and equipment are complete and properly stored.

3. Prepare ingredients and equipment as directed by teachers and assist during practical lessons.

4. During school holidays within the service period, deep-clean the laboratories, remove expired food, check equipment and ingredient stocks, and update records. Clean storage and presentation items, replace drawer linings and tablecloths, and prepare for the next term.

5. Assist the Operations Manager with operations support duties outside the food laboratories during school holidays.
