Outdoor Specialist

St Joseph's Institution International Preschool, a Catholic & Lasallian School that provides a quality, international education for a diverse student body, rooted in the community of Singapore, is seeking a dynamic , conscientious and proactive individual to join us.

Applicant will be responsible for Educators (Early Years and Kindergarten), Teacher Aides, Children & Families (New and Existing) in the aspect of the outdoor programme.

Primary Function

● Responsible to the Head, Academic & Operations (in consultation with Head of School) to review, design and implement a holistic outdoor curriculum, and drive the development of teaching and learning practices of educators in the centre. Works collaboratively with Level Heads (Head of Nursery and Kindergarten) and other educators to ensure quality implementation for the children and their families in school and the alignment of curricula goals and teaching practices in the centre. Provides in-house training and support in outdoor teaching and learning strategies for key stakeholders where appropriate.

Job Duties and responsibilities

1. Drive the development and review of outdoor curriculum according to national guidelines and evidence-based research.
2. Review and develop pedagogical practices to facilitate meaningful and child-centered daily activities for children across the various age groups.
3. Review programme planning and implementation for the outdoor curriculum to ensure alignment with the organization's philosophy of teaching and learning.
4. Works with the Head, Academic & Operations, Level Heads, and educators to ensure proper delivery of the outdoor curriculum and the different components of the outdoor programme (including the use of all resources).
5. Drive initiatives to establish partnerships and collaborations with families and community stakeholders in relation to the outdoor programme.
6. Plans and works with various stakeholders (Head of School, Head, Academic & Operations, Level Heads, Educators, etc.) to set up appropriate outdoor learning environments. Assess effectiveness and evaluate improvements to enhance the quality of outdoor learning environments.

7. Submits Monthly Reports

   to the Head, Academic & Operations as a review for the ongoing work of the outdoor programme, highlighting what is going well and what needs improvement.

8. Holds regular meetings/ discussions with various stakeholders

   (Head of School, Head, Academic & Operations, Level Heads, Educators, etc.) to discuss, brainstorm, clarify, agree on, resolve, and act on matters related to the outdoor programme.

9. Contributes to the content, material and/or information

   needed for parent-teacher conferences that is related to the outdoor programme where appropriate and applicable.
10. Share methodologies and strategies and collaborate with the SJII PS staff team and other authorized persons such as students, researchers etc. in the spirit of showcasing the outdoor programme that is unique to SJII PS.
11. Participates in all organization and school-organised activities
12. Promotes SJI International Preschool’s social mission and objectives through the activities of the school in reaching out to the children, parents, and community.
13. Implements SJI International Preschool’s Shared Vision and Mission in motivating staff and leading by example.
14. Performs other related duties as assigned by Head, Academic & Operations and/or Head of School.

Requirements

● At least a Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience in the field of specialisation

● 3-5 years of working experience

● Able to lead teams and develop curricular content

● Fluent in English (Written and Spoken)

● Good people skills, is a team player and has a strong understanding of diverse cultures

● IT Savvy
